Application Procedure

Preparation of the Substrate

The concrete sub-surfaces to be applied must have a strong and sufficient compressive strength (minimum 25 N / mm2), tensile strength of at least 1,5 N / mm2, maximum humidity of 4%, floor temperature minimum + 8 °C. Also, the dew point of the floor should be over + 3 °C. The bottom surface must be clean, dry and free of any foreign objects such as dirt, oil, grease, coating and surface curing materials.

Mixing

Pour the amount of water indicated on the package into a clean mixing bowl. Slowly add the BYK 1018 LEVELSCREED into the water and stir for 3 minutes until you get a homogenous mixture with the electric mixer and the appropriate mixing tip. Material should not be allowed to clump at the bottom of the bucket and these pellets should be distributed. After waiting for about 2 minutes, stir for another 1 minute to make it ready for application.

Mixing Rates

For 25 kg/1 bag of BYK 1018 LEVELSCREED approximately 5,00±0,50 lt of water should be used.

Preparation of the Substrate

The concrete sub-surfaces to be applied should be prepared in such a way that it can remove the cement slurry by using abrasive equipment (Shot Blasting, milling, diamond, etc.) to obtain an open-pored surface. Weak concrete parts should be removed from the surface, small gaps, holes should be made completely open. The dust must be cleaned with the help of industrial vacuum cleaner.

Application

Primer
BYK 1018 LEVELSCREED should be primed to increase the adherence of the leveling screed to the floor, reduce the air bubbles to form, and to prevent the liquid from being absorbed by the floor. Surface properties should be examined in the selection of primer and time requirement should be calculated. Depending on the requirement, the selected BYK 1104 PRIMERA primer is mixed with water in
a ratio of 1/1 and applied by brush or roller. Apply the 2nd coat on very absorbent surfaces. BYK 1018 LEVELSCREED application can be started after primer drying.

Coating

BYK 1018 LEVELSCREED is poured on the surface, applied with a suitable trowel or comb. When the coating reaches the appropriate consistency, apply the hedgehog roller and remove the dragged air. If the hedgehog roll application is delayed, traces of the hedgehog
roller may remain on the surface.

Watch Points

• BYK 1018 LEVELSCREED application, if the ambient and surface temperature is below + 5 ° C or above + 35 ° C, the appropriate
temperatures should be waited.
• Do not apply in extremely hot, rainy or windy weather.
• The materials to be used in the area to be applied should be brought and stored 1-2 days in advance and provided to adapt to the environmental conditions.
• It should be ensured that the ambient and ground temperature should be increased with the heaters in the applications to be done in extremely cold weather conditions and it should be conditioned at + 20 ° C - + 25 ° C in the materials to be used and made ready for application.
• The working and reaction times of cement based systems are affected by the ambient and ground temperatures and the relative humidity in the air. At low temperatures, the reaction slows down, extending the lifetime of the pan (container) and the working time. High temperatures accelerate the reaction and the times mentioned above are shortened accordingly.
• In order for the material to cure, the ambient and floor temperatures should not fall below the minimum permissible temperature. After mixing, the material should be rested and then mixed again.
• After the application of BYK 1018 LEVELSCREED, it is necessary to wait at least 3 days for another coating.

Cleaning of Application Tools
After application, the tools and equipment used must be cleaned with water. BYK 1018 LEVELSCREED can only be removed from the surface mechanically after curing.
Consumption
Use 1.70 kg / m² BYK 1018 LEVELSCREED to achieve 1 mm thickness.
Package
25 kg Kraft Bag
Shelf Life

12 months from date of manufacture under appropriate storage conditions. Opened packages should be consumed within 1 week by closing their mouths.

Storage
Store in unopened original packaging in a cool and dry place protected from frost. For short-term storage, a maximum of 2 pallets should be placed on top of each other and should be shipped with first in first out. For long-term storage, pallets should not be stacked on top of each other.
Safety Precautions
It is dangerous to approach the storage and application areas with fire. Storage and application areas should be ventilated. Work clothing, protective gloves, goggles, masks must be used during the application. In case of contact with skin and eyes, do not contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap and seek medical advice immediately if swallowed. Food and beverages should not be introduced into the application areas. It should be stored out of reach of children. Please refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet for detailed information.
