Byk 1101 Primer 5 Kg

Polymer Dispersion Based, Mineral Filled, Exposed Concrete, Gypsum and Plaster Primer

BYK 1101 PRIMER mineral-filled polymer dispersion based primer used before application of cement based and gypsum based plaster to smooth surfaces. Plaster-based cement surfaces are reacted chemical with the surfaces and separated from the surface over time. It is an excellent primer designed to cut the direct contacts and form a holding surface.

Fields of Application

• Indoor and outdoor, it is used as a primer before application to gross concrete surfaces of plaster
and cement based plaster.
• Used as a primer before application of plaster and cement based plasters in vertical and ceilings.
• It is used in ceramic application on ceramic.

Advantages

• Easy to apply,
• Provide excellent adherence.
• Avoids rapid absorption of the water of plaster to be applied. Thus, it prevents sudden drying
cracks and increases working time.

Application Procedure

Preparation of the Substrate

Preparation of the Substrate Surfaces such as concrete and plaster must have finished their strength and be free from any impurities. If the surface is very dusty, it should be washed with water or thoroughly cleaned with a wet sponge. All weak parts should be scraped off from the surface and clean surface should be obtained.

Mixing

BYK 1101 PRIMER should be thoroughly mixed with an electric mixer at 400-600 rpm before use.

Mixing Ratio

BYK 1101 PRIMER is to be applied with machine. If needed Max %10 of water can be added. Otherwise water is not added.

Application
BYK 1101 PRIMER is mixed and applied with coral roller after getting a homogeneous appearance. The consistency should be adjusted according to the surface condition. The consumption should be increased on surfaces with a high risk of adhesion.
Consumption
According to the surface condition it is recommended to use between 150- 250 gr / m2.

5kg – 10kg – 25kg plastic bucket
Cleaning of the Tools
Tools and equipments should be clean with water after application.
Watch Points

• In BYK 1101 PRIMER application, if the ambient and surface temperature is below +5°C or above +35°C,
suitable temperatures should be expected. In outdoor applications, the application should be protected from
sun, rain, wind and frost first 24 hours. Getting dirty of primer must be prevented during and after the
application.

Shelf Life
When stored properly at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, between +5°C and +30°C, shelf life is 12 months from the date of production. BYK 1101 PRIMER freezes at temperatures below 0°C. Opened packages should be consumed within 1 week by closing their mouths.
Storage
The product should be stored in its original package, in a cool and dry place protected from frost. For short term storage, maximum 2 palettes should be placed on top of each other and the shipment should be made on a ‘first come, first go’ basis. Palettes should not be placed on top of each other during long term storage.
Health and Safety Precautions
It is dangerous to approach the application sites with fire. Fresh air should be circulated in the storage and the application sites. During the application, a protective apparel, protective gloves, goggles and masks which comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Rules should be used. Due to the irritation effect of the uncured materials, the mixture should not come into contact with skin and eyes; in case of a contact, the affected area should be washed with plenty of water and soap; in case of swallowing, a physician should be consulted immediately.
