BYK 3015 WATERTECH FLEX UV, is cement and polymer dispersion based, two component, Resistant to UV, white, highly elastic waterproofing material designed for all kinds of reinforced concrete surface and cement based screeds.

Application Procedure

Preparation of the Substrate

The surface to be applied must be solid, free from any oil, grease, rust, paraffin, paint, bitumen residues that will prevent adhesion to the surface and all loose parts must be cleaned. Iron and wooden wedges on the surface should be removed and active water leaks, if any, should be repaired with BYK 1102 PLUG and the gaps, uneven surfaces and corner edges (chamfer making at least 4 cm) should be repaired with BYK 4014 REPAIR repair mortars. The surface should be wetted before application. If waterproofing material loses its water immediately and takes a matte appearance during application, it is understood that the surface is not wetted sufficiently or the product dries quickly due to weather conditions. In cases where such air is hot or the materials are in the wind, the water through 10% of BYK 3015 WATERTECH FLEX UV B component is added to the mixed material for the first layer.

Mixing

The 1/2 of the BYK 3015 WATERTECH FLEX UV B component is poured into a clean mixing chamber. While the BYK 3015 WATERTECH FLEX UV A component is slowly added, it is mixed for about 3-5 minutes with an electric mixer of 400-600 rpm and the appropriate mixer. The mixture coming to the paste consistency is allowed to rest for 2 minutes, then the remaining B component is added and mixed for 1-2 minutes to prepare for application.

Application

The prepared BYK 3015 WATERTECH FLEX UV mixture is applied in two or three layers with the help of an insulating brush. The direction of brush application on each floor should be perpendicular to each other. Waiting time between layers varies according to ambient conditions.

Cleaning of Application Tools
Tools and equipment used after application should be cleaned with water.
Watch Points

• In the application of BYK 3015 WATERTECH FLEX UV, if the ambient and surface temperature is below +5°C or above
• +35°C, suitable temperatures should be expected. Application should not be made in extremely hot, rainy or windy weather. BYK 3015 WATERTECH FLEX UV applied at +23°C gains mechanical strength after 2 days, becomes waterproof after 7 days
and reaches its final strength after 28 days.
• In exterior surface applications, the surface should be protected from sun, wind, rain or frost for the first 24 hours.
• Working and reaction times of cement and acrylic based systems are affected by ambient and ground temperature and relative humidity in the air. At low temperatures, the reaction slows down, which increases pot life and working time. High temperatures accelerate the reaction and the times mentioned above are shortened accordingly.
• In order for the material to complete its curing, the floor temperature and ambient temperature to be applied must not fall below the minimum allowed value. In application, wet film thickness should not exceed 1,30 mm in one layer.

Shelf Life
Shelf life is 12 months from the date of production when stored properly at + 5 ° C to + 30 ° C, room temperature, away from direct sunlight. BYK 3015 WATERTECH FLEX UV B component freezes at temperatures below 0 ° C. Opened packages should be kept tightly closed in suitable storage conditions and used within one week.
Storage
The product should be stored in its original package, in a cool and dry place protected from frost. For short term storage, maximum 2 palettes should be placed on top of each other and the shipment should be made on a ‘first come, first go’ basis. Palettes should not be placed on top of each other during long term storage.
Health and Safety Precautions
It is dangerous to approach the application sites with fire. Fresh air should be circulated in the storage and the application sites. During the application, a protective apparel, protective gloves, goggles and masks which comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Rules should be used. Due to the irritation effect of the uncured materials, the mixture should not come into contact with skin and eyes; in case of a contact, the affected area should be washed with plenty of water and soap; in case of swallowing, a physician should be consulted immediately. No food or beverages should be brought to the application area. The product should be stored and kept out of reach of children.
